Chapter 9

Redistribution of wealth

1.     Universal suffrage without some discussion how wealth will be distributed is unrealistic

2.     No redistribution of wealth is the most efficient system

3.     So, obviously some kind of compromise will be necessary

4.     The division over this economic question is the initial fracture

5.     When the identity issues line up with the economic ones the ability of any individual to divide people is greatly increased

o   This is what affirmative action was meant to address but when it happened how redistribution of wealth was viewed changed

o   It went from: Q: Why do I have to give you my money? A: Because I am down on my luck.  To: Why do I have to give you my money? A: Because you are a racist

o   The original approach was better from a sales stand point, that is if you are trying to sell the people providing the money
